klonk
so after five years of being CCNA i finally took my first (real) steps into CCNP land, i was all set to throw in the towell, no cash, running out of time, no equipment blah blah and toxic came round and gave me a well needed kick in the raas, and plugged me in to gns3, so i got stuck in, and on saturday i got 877, which i was pleased with, i got 766 first time round…
as you probably know, the ccna needs re-certifying every three years, which kinda makes progression a must, last time i re-certified with the Wireless Lans for Field Engineers, this time i chose the BSCI or CCNP 1, i didn’t book my exam until the last minute, so i was a bit stressed about what would happen if i didn’t get it first time, my ccna was due to expire two days later so i re-booked that very night and my certifcation appeared held open until the result for my re-booked exam came through, a bit risky but i didn’t hae much choice as i’d left it so late.. unfortunately though, the cert bods went back and expired my CCNA, so now i gotta do it again… hey ho, back to the books

Hello, I’ve been looking for a site like yours since last Monday. The last place I searched (should be the first) was in Google, using the keywords “cisco certification”. Anyway, it was worth the search because I really like this website and your post regarding klonk looks very interesting for me. Definitely Stumbled!

Can you provide more information on this?

not sure what else to tell you really, don’t do what i did and arse about until the last minute.. seriously, if i had started working a week or even a couple of days earlier then i would have been fine, and i’d still be an official CCNA..
GNS3 was a godsend, without a lab setup or good virtual lab i don’t personally think you have a hope, well, you may have a hope, but you won’t really have a clue, while TestKing is great for cramming, and helping you blaze through the Questions, i personally feel that the understanding you gain from a good simulator makes all the difference, BTW, i tried the boson CCNP sim and i wanted to kill someone…
..using GNS was a dream by comparison, because to all intents and purposes they are real routers, the only problem is the need for a bit of a power-horse PC to run multiple routers, see my other post ‘adventures in simulation’ for deeper GNS3 business..
